In 1987, newspaper reporter Anna Marie Lux traded modern conveniences for life as a lighthouse keeper on Lake Superior's remote Outer Island. This vintage Wisconsin Magazine story captures her solitary summer as a National Park Service volunteer in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.

"Dance to the Music" | Great Performances Honor the legacy of funk rock pioneer Sly Stone, who died June 9 at age 82, with a cover of his hit single, "Dance to the Music." The song was performed by musicians Charlie Wilson, Valerie Simpson and Vernon Reid at the Grammy Salute to Music Legends in 2017. Stone was one of that year's Lifetime Achievement Award honorees.
